HONEY BEE CAGES

Our Honey Bee Cages are popular with scientists in the race to save honey bee populations. The cages are stainless steel and glass and are suitable to sterilise in an autoclave.

There are two feeding holes on the roof and one on the side. The raised base
has lots of ventilation holes so that the honey bees do not overheat.

ELC CAGES

Our ELC Cages are ideal housing for stick insects, leaf insects, millipedes, large beetles and large caterpillars. ELC cages are sturdy and have crystal clear viewing panels made from strong plastic.

ELC enclosures have two fully ventilated sides (made from white plastic full of specially made holes), providing natural cross-flow ventilation. Disposable pre-cut ELC Liners are available to keep the creatures in clean surroundings. We launched the ELC cage back in 2012, so it now has a long history of being used succesfully in laboratories nationwide. The ELC cage is supplied ready built which saves you time because there is no assembly for you to do. These are durable cages which will last for many years. Keep your ELC cages clean by washing them with cold water and dilute bleach.

Access is via the drop-on lid. And you can also reach in horizontally by sliding out

one of the white mesh panels.

CLIP CAGES

Our Clip Cages are popular with scientists studying aphids and potato beetles in fieldwork. The long hinged clip makes it easy for you to fasten the Clip Cage around a selected leaf. Position the two gold hairpin shaped pins over the grey rings to create a tight seal around the leaf. These grey rings are compressible to minimise damage to the leaf.

You can view the insects through the clear plastic cylinders on either side of the leaf. There is net over the top of these viewing cylinders to stop them steaming up inside.
The Clip Cages are supplied ready assembled and so can be used straight away.

When your work is completed, rinse the Clip Cages with cold water and allow to air dry.

They can be re-used many times and so are cost-effective and tick the sustainability box.

insect olfactometers

Two versions of our Insect Olfactometers are available: 4-way and 2-way.
Precision made from clear acrylic with arms that are detachable from the main chamber.

4-way olfactometer: 5 chambers,10cm high x 8cm diameter. Connecting arms 12cm long. This is being successfully used for crawling larvae that usually live in soil, so fill the olfactometer with sand to study them.

2-way olfactometer: main chamber 30cm x 30cm x 30cm.

This is being successfully used for Drosophila olfactory studies.

The Insect Olfactometers can be washed in cold water and allowed to air dry.
They can be re-used many times.
